Hills Helps Them Wear It With Pride
In February 2010, Hills and the iconic Hills Hoist, showed its true colours by helping the gay community mark the launch of ‘Wear It With Pride’ on the windy forecourt of the Sydney Opera House.

The ‘Wear It With Pride’ campaign celebrated the recent 85 same-sex government law reforms by transforming each law into inspirational imagery on a range of colourful T-shirts. The bold demonstration was aimed at engaging all Australians and raising awareness of the important changes.

Hills provided eight rotary hoists to display the spectacular rainbow of T-shirts. The colourful Hoists were positioned at the foot of Sydney Opera House – forming the perfect backdrop for the day’s proceedings.

The bright and symbolic T-shirts contrasted against the true-blue image of the Hills Hoist and sent a strong message of progress in modern Australia.

The T-shirts were also worn at the launch by celebrities including Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Ruby Rose, Kylie Gillies (The Morning Show), Richard Reid (Today Show); Prof. Kerryn Phelps (former head of the Australian Medical Association), Helpmann Award winner iOTA and Adam Sutton, the inspiration for Heath Ledger’s character in Brokeback Mountain.

Many of the celebrities who attended the launch had been personally affected by the 85 law reforms. The reforms created increased social rights in a range of areas including public office, parenting, workplace, relationships, health and ageing, social security and immigration.
